SEMESTER 4
March - July 2023
A picture of my model for studio IV final submission.
Semester 4 focuses more and mainly on the idea of the cluster typology in design. We learned the different types of cluster such as, cluster within an enclosure, cluster through common shapes, cluster along an axis, cluster through repetitive spaces and many more. In addition, the design focus is about creating a community center for targeted users that explores on environmental qualities and conditions for human and environment sustainability. Overall, semester 4 was all about the environment, sustainability and spatial qualities. This semester was surprisingly a fun semester due to the flexibility we were given in terms of designing. Furthermore, we were able to monitor our progress and individual creativity when it comes to our designs.

I took 3 modules for this semester, and they are Architectural Design IV (Studio IV), Advanced Architectural Construction (AAC) and Green Strategies for Building Design (GSBD).
Modules
ARC60508
ARC60104
ARC61804
In semester 4, themed "engaging environment and community" the studio explores design by harnessing environmental qualities and conditions for human and environment sustainability through a project with a specific community of users within a given context. The projects involve studies of precedents on design projects that are responsive to the environmental conditions and sustainable issues.
This module introduces the principles and practices of construction technology for long-span and tall buildings. It focuses on the construction systems of basement, building façade and envelope systems as well as steel construction. It also covers the new recent construction technologies and systems including the modular construction (MC) and Industrialized Building Systems (IBS).
This module is an exploration of passive sustainable strategies in architectural design. It looks at the different elements that make up architecture and how the integration of passive design strategies with these elements contribute to the quality of spatial experience within a building. Students will undertake case studies to analyze the applications of these strategies and their impact on the quality and experience of space. The understanding of the various passive sustainable design strategies will inform the students' own studio project.
